Ko_ku_bo Collective was born out of our love for sustainable design with a focus on quality, hand-made, limited-run furniture. We make furniture that will grow with you. Furniture that is worthy of migrating throughout the home as timeless, statement pieces that will last a lifetime.
We are a family owned and run business with a passion for unique design and high quality workmanship. Our mission is to provide an alternative to mass produced, imported furniture.
Reg and Annie are the energy behind Ko_ku_bo.
Reg is a ‘design tragic’ who is driven to make furniture as it should be made – handcrafted, using beautiful materials, functional and timeless in design. Furniture that shows attention to detail, pride in its craftsmanship and gives joy.
Annie loves the creativity Ko_ku_bo brings to their life. She is proud of the furniture and relishes the challenge that building a brand is giving her. Most of all, Annie is driven to support Reg in his ambition to become the full-time designer and furniture maker for Ko_ku_bo and create a legacy for their children and beyond.
Ko_ku_bo Collective products are meticulously designed and made with integrity and love. We are a small team who value traditional, hand-crafted joinery methods and take inspiration from the simplicity, quality and functionality of Swedish and Japanese design and craftsmanship. All Ko_ku_bo Collective pieces are unassumingly simple in design with clean lines and subtle detail.
Based in Geelong on Victoria’s Surf Coast, we deliver to Greater Melbourne, Greater Sydney and Greater Adelaide. Please contact us regarding delivery to other areas.
Our furniture maker, Reg:
After completing a joinery apprenticeship 25 years ago, Reg, Ko_ku_bo Collective Furniture Maker & Designer, has remained in the building trade both overseas and in Australia. With experience in commercial and domestic joinery and carpentry, Reg’s passion has always been furniture design.
Reg is inspired by design, detail and uniqueness. He loves travel, music, coffee, innovative people, texture, nature, family, colour, problem-solving and individuality.
About the material:
Ko_ku_bo Collective products are made with Birch plywood and a mixture of solid American timbers, such as American oak, American maple and Tulip wood.
The Birch plywood has been sourced for its durability, strength, ecological production process and architectural beauty. The American timbers are a beautiful alternative to commonly used veneers and laminates.
The Birch plywood is grown from ethically managed, continuously regenerated forests. The material is strong enough for industrial and heavy-duty architectural use.
Coloured with an all-natural, non-toxic oil and finished with a durable, thin, transparent melamine film, the natural grains of the Birch bleed through, leaving the product smooth to touch with a bespoke textural beauty – a feature totally unique to the furniture market.
The surfaces are easy to clean, hard-wearing and crack resistant.
